Cauliflower Buffalo Wings

Cauliflower Buffalo Wings. These delicious and vegan-friendly wings are a fantastic alternative to traditional buffalo wings. Let's get cooking!

Ingredients:

For the cauliflower wings:

  • 1 large head of cauliflower, washed and cut into bite-sized florets

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour for a gluten-free option)

  • 1 cup plant-based milk (such as almond, soy, or oat milk)

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

  • Salt and pepper to taste

For the buffalo sauce:

  • 1/2 cup hot sauce (Frank's RedHot is a classic choice)

  • 1/4 cup melted vegan butter or margarine

  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or agave nectar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)

For serving:

  • Celery sticks

  • Carrot sticks

  • Vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil.

  1. In a large mixing bowl, prepare the batter by whisking together the flour, plant-based milk, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until smooth. The batter should be thick enough to coat the cauliflower but still pourable. Adjust the consistency by adding more milk or flour as needed.

  1. Dip the cauliflower florets into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated. Allow any excess batter to drip off before placing them on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure to leave space between the florets to ensure even baking.

  1. Bake the cauliflower in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and crispy. You may want to flip them halfway through the baking time for even browning.

  1. While the cauliflower is baking, prepare the buffalo sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the hot sauce, melted vegan butter, and maple syrup (if using). Heat the sauce over low to medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it's well combined and heated through. Adjust the heat level to your preference by adding more or less hot sauce.

  1. Once the cauliflower wings are crispy, remove them from the oven and let them cool slightly. Transfer the baked cauliflower wings into a large mixing bowl.

  1. Pour the buffalo sauce over the cauliflower wings and toss them gently until each piece is coated evenly.

  1. Serve the Cauliflower Buffalo Wings hot with celery sticks, carrot sticks, and your favorite vegan ranch or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.

Enjoy your scrumptious and spicy Cauliflower Buffalo Wings! They make a perfect appetizer, party snack, or game-day treat for all to enjoy.
